CDC HPAI outbreaks home page. This site gives a brief overview and many excellent links about the virus and the current status world-wide.

World Health Organization

WHOs fact sheet on avian influenza does a fantastic job of explaining the disease in birds, history of the outbreaks, epidemiology, and a clinical explanation of the disease in humans.
WHO AI update has a few links about the current situation world-wide and a map depicting outbreaks in poultry, wild birds, and humans.

World Organization for Animal Health

Country-by-Country Official Reports on outbreaks. These state where the outbreak occurred, how many birds died, and how many were slaughtered.

Pandemic Flu.gov A nicely organized, comprehensive site with many links. This site gives many files regarding U.S., state and local planning much of which is geared at detection strategies and human health.

USGS- National Wildlife Health Center AI Reports

Weekly avian influenza updates focusing on animals. A great list of links includes tips for people handling wild birds.

USDA Import Embargo

Current Import Bans No unprocessed birds or eggs can be imported from countries that have experienced HP-AI outbreaks. Processed birds (cooked meat) can be imported. Pet birds or "Theatrical or performing birds of United States origin that have been in a region where HPAI subtype H5N1 exists are subject to a minimum 30-day quarantine in a USDA quarantine facility upon their return to the United States. Performing or theatrical birds returning from all other regions must undergo a 30-day home quarantine upon return to the United States."
